Backend Developer

At Simbase, we are building a better IoT connectivity platform, making it more accessible, affordable, and efficient for companies to build connected products. Our platform is evolving at a rapid pace, and we are in search of a talented developer skilled in Python, backend infrastructure, and serverless technologies to accelerate our journey by building better software.

In this role, you will work on our connectivity management back-end, the beating heart of our operation. What you’ll do

As a backend engineer, you will design and build platforms, tooling, and system solutions that are configurable and scalable around the globe. You will partner with the team, with the opportunity to both work on infrastructure/platform systems, as well as produce direct user-facing business impact.

Our backend is driving better connectivity at Simbase. The right engineer will allow us to scale faster and more reliably as our business accelerates. If that sounds exciting, we’d love to speak with you.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in Python: Demonstrated experience with the Python programming language, including the development, deployment, and maintenance of production-ready products. Experience with any Python framework is highly valued.

  • Backend Infrastructure Expertise: Comfortable working with backend infrastructure components such as queues, APIs, and containers, as well as backend applications.

  • Code Quality and Documentation: Committed to writing well-structured, readable, and maintainable code with an appropriate level of abstraction. Takes pride in producing clear and comprehensive documentation.

  • Cloud Experience: At least some hands-on experience with AWS or other Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) providers.

  • Passion for Serverless Technologies: Enthusiastic about serverless backend technologies and eager to explore and implement them.

  • Innovative Mindset: Continuously generates fresh ideas and solutions, contributing to the dynamic and innovative environment.

Who you are

We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working as a software engineer

  • Experience with Python

  • Have delivered, extended, and maintained scalable production systems.

  • Love to design systems that are elegant abstractions over complex patterns/practices

Preferred qualifications

  • You think of yourself as entrepreneurial and enjoy moving quickly on new, green-field products

  • You hold yourself and others to a high bar when working with production systems
